So according to their blog, they got bought by Six Apart and are shutting down in 2 weeks. This is sad. I like Pownce, in fact, I was a beta tester for them, and I even defended them back in 2007 when TechCrunch called them dead back then. I’ve logged problem reports, made suggestions, and was even one of the “pro” members. Pownce was superior to Twitter, Jaiku, etc. in many ways, but especially for the fact that one was able to post a note in more than 140 characters. But alas, just like Jimi, Jim and Kurt, the good always die young.

RIP Pownce… We hardly knew ye.

I talked to a friend in the area, he says it’s nuts. He’s estimating 7+ inches at his house, which is not too far from where that retention pond is located at. And judging from the radar, he’s probably right.

That’s the GRLevel 3 display of the KLOT Doppler Radar estimate of the rainfall as of 1:50am to the left. I haven’t talked to anyone in Palatine yet, though, so I’m not sure of the situation just down the road.

Chicago Local Storm Reports as of 2am — Palatine isn’t mentioned in them, just Arlington Heights and a bunch of other surrounding areas.

Get it while it’s hot! Not only is this my first Wordpress plugin, but it’s the first time I’ve programmed in a long, long time, so I hope everything goes well. I’ve been testing the plugin and it seems to work well. So, what does it do? Simple, 2 things:

1. It will cross-post your Wordpress posts as a link to Pownce
2. It will display your last x number of public Pownce messages, where x is a number you define!
