If I only got a snow day…

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Madison has had a ton of snow dumped on it overnight… Sigh… No snow day for the news, though.

Here’s a pair of reports from this morning:

0800 AM HEAVY SNOW MADISON 43.08N 89.38W

0705 AM HEAVY SNOW MADISON 43.08N 89.38W
12/19/2008 M8.8 INCH DANE WI TRAINED SPOTTER

Wow.. This is insane…

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
0600 PM FLOOD 1 SW ARLINGTON HEIGHTS 42.08N 88.00W
09/13/2008 COOK IL TRAINED SPOTTER

RETENTION POND OVERFLOWING. WILKE ROAD BETWEEN KIRCHOFF
AND CENTRAL ROADS CLOSED. STORM TOTAL 6.11 INCHES.

I talked to a friend in the area, he says it’s nuts. He’s estimating 7+ inches at his house, which is not too far from where that retention pond is located at. And judging from the radar, he’s probably right.

That’s the GRLevel 3 display of the KLOT Doppler Radar estimate of the rainfall as of 1:50am to the left. I haven’t talked to anyone in Palatine yet, though, so I’m not sure of the situation just down the road.

Chicago Local Storm Reports as of 2am — Palatine isn’t mentioned in them, just Arlington Heights and a bunch of other surrounding areas.

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Taken this morning out the side door of the apartment building… It was much worse last night, but I didn’t feel like going out and taking pictures when I got home from work. More pictures under the cut.
