Got dial-up?

Speed Test 5/16 - 10am

Seriously? I guess the question is, does anyone have an dial-up AOL account I could borrow? I think it’d be faster than my DSL right now.

Again with the DSL problems…

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

So it looks like they’re back. This morning I tried to check my e-mail and GMail freaked on me and told me that I was on a slow connection, at which point it reverted me to HTML view. Ewwww… Do you know how bad GMail is on HTML mode?

I ran tests on DSLR and here’s what I got…

Before router reboot:

DSL Reports Speed Test Results

After router reboot:

DSL Reports Speed Test Results, after router reboot

So who knows. I posted on DSLR’s AT&T Midwest forum to see if anyone else is having issues and if I get no bites there, I might re-open my thread on the DSLR AT&T Direct forum. The guy did say to post again if the problem crept back up.

Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow Internet

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Seriously? FF is telling me a 3.8MB file would take me ~20 minutes to download when I started it. This is pro speed DSL? Um.. right… I could get faster downloads on a 56K dial-up I think right now. Most of Web 2.0 is useless to me at the moment. Hell, most of the web is useless to me at the moment.

Last I checked I had 320 Kb/s down, 413 Kb/s up. My pro DSL is supposed to be 3.0 Mb/s down, 512 Kb/s up. 320 Kb/s down, 413 Kb/s up isn’t even basic DSL speeds.

I ditched dial-up 10+ years ago because it was slow… No way in hell I’m tolerating this. If it’s not fixed by tomorrow AT&T is getting a phone call from me. (I’ve already submitted a complaint via DSLR’s AT&T Direct forum.)

I wonder if AT&T is messing with packets… Could be a strong case for why we need net neutrality in this country?!
